Overlook Mountain

January 17, 2010

This weekend I did something that puts me one step closer to writing the script. While I was working on it, I came across this. Does anyone know if anyone owns this property?

My Woodstock Story

December 14, 2009

The circumstances of my first time passing through Woodstock were unfortunate. I had taken a day trip to New York the previous day. When it came to head back, I got lost on the subway, missed the bus, and had to stay with a friend who was a student at NYU overnight. I had to take a bus from Port Authority the next morning, a bus that had a stop in Woodstock. The bus stop in Woodstock was on Route 212, aka Tinker Street. I decided then to make a visit one day.

Seven years later, I got my chance. In the fall of 2008, I signed up to volunteer at the Woodstock Film Festival. I got to meet Donovan, Arlo Guthrie, and Kate Pierson (The B-52’s)–and that was just the first night! I had a good time despite circumstances that happened earlier in the week (I won’t explain right now). I made two trips this past year: one to meet someone I’m hoping to make a documentary on (and I’m still hoping to do). Then this past October, I attended the Woodstock Film Festival again, this time as press.

When I left the festival to drive home, a voice inside my head kept saying, “I don’t want to go home.” I couldn’t fathom going home, even as I headed west on Route 28.

I’ve had the idea of making a movie in Woodstock long before I heard of mumblecore. Now that I’ve had an opportunity to familiarize myself with the area, I can’t think of a more opportunistic time than now to try and make a movie there.
